Custom System Questionnaire

A typical system, with Bellows, Microscope/Copy Stand, mid-range Lens and Adapters starts at $400. If you already have a camera and lights, and want to mostly take full-coin shots across the range of US coin sizes, then this is all you need.

Add a Canon Camera with Live View, Tethering Software, and Vibration-Free Shutter, and adapter for $200.

Add a pair of LED lights with diffusers for $50.

Add a Microscope Objective and adapter starting at $75

    Several folks have asked about larger copy stands and systems using standard macro lenses. These systems can be put together using off-the-shelf components. I have advised many folks on what to buy based on their specific requirements. If you have questions, PM me or send an email using my website contact page. Note that the systems I configure for folks are extremely compact, generally taking up only 6"x9" on a desktop (not including lights). Note also that if you're interested in shooting high resolution shots of VAM or other variety details, standard macro lenses won't give you the best results. Most standard macro lenses can only go to 1:1 (some only to 1:2) so while they are good for full-coin shots, they fall short on details shots. My systems are specifically tailored to shoot whatever level of detail you desire, with high image quality.

    Cool website Ray! How did you shoot the pics in the 3d gallery of RPMs? With the adjustable stage?

    Yes, I used an adjustable stage to do those shots. The stage I have pictured in my Example System-3 has 10um vertical resolution so is good for 3D imaging up to 10x magnification. I use either 5x or 10x for the 3D shots.
