Munson , Clemente cut autos

Hi all on the bay I found some incredible cut autos for sale of Munson and Clemente, my question is has anybody ever saw a Munson graded 10 auto in a slab, other than the 1 currently on eBay?

both Clemente & Munson are highly desirable and often targets of forgers.....can you post scans (or a link to the auction)?

They're both PSA/DNA encapsulated in Probsteins store at $15K BINs.

    Clemente

    Munson
  • Thanks Larkin, he posted the correct links ....Has anyone ever laid eyes on,,,,at any time in your collecting career a psa /dna auto grade 10 Munson ? Slabbed

No, but I haven't exactly been keeping tabs. I can't imagine it's the only that has, much less the only one that would. As a complete wild guess, I'd figure less than 10% of autos authenticated by PSA have the auto graded as well. Out of curiosity, what makes the back of telegram paper archival?

It's not, the description was copied from the PSA9 he has listed also.
  • Not sure but certain papers from that era contained acids and other chemicals that are bad for vintage autos we all see the faded autos from ball point pens on anything and balls being leather they have a way of fading sigs as well .archival papers lock in the ink keeping them from fading,,, telegram paper must be archival and come to think of it that's probably why western union used it so the acceptance signatures were easy to read and locked in the paper for later verification . In those days the paper copy is all they had. Remember that darn times have changed!

So out of curiosity, again, what consignment rate did you get?
  • Depends on what an item sells for and who's auction it's. In , sliding scale rates are the norm with most auction houses in the past I've gotten them down to as low as seven percent ......... For the really scarce rare items sometime they'll even go lower just to have the item and say they were the one who sold it.

I take it since you found them that you're actively searching and collecting them. I don't. What do you think the prices should be, ball-park guess? I won't make an offer against you since you found them. Plus pricey for me. Is that the range? Great sigs. Thanks for sharing.

    I absolutely love it.

Are you making an offer on one or both? Thanks.

I think you answered your own question. Thanks for the education. I find all of this thread very interesting. Makes me think.
  • Thanks to those who did reply maybe a few more can give some feed back on the original question ...?.Has anyone ever laid eyes on a Munson psa 10 auto grade slabbed, I've seen a ball 10 auto and those can go 20-30 grand but since their are so few tracking even balls is a hard thing to do. And in my opinion I'd rather own a cut that will not fade over a ball that in 30-40 years,,, the ball and the auto will fade or turn colors. I contacted a few of the bigger auto sellers
And none of them have ever seen a Munson 10 slabbed so now it's up to the members here, seems like not to long ago you could ask a ? And get some info what happened where is every body?

    Now that's funny.

To answer the OP's original question - "has anybody ever saw a Munson graded 10 auto in a slab, other than the 1 currently on eBay?"

No, I don't collect autographs, but thanks for showing us yours. Your Munson 9 looks nice too, good luck with the sales.
    Matt

  • True 7not bad in a day I remember some threads getting many more replies, with much more info in the past. I asked the ? About the Munson 10 auto because I've never seen another one in a slab and none of the auto sellers that I contacted have ,so to ask the? Here was an easy what's next ,never said anything about the price of a Munson 10 auto slabbed doesn't really concern me . Every body will have a different opinion on what any things worth. There were a lot members here ,that's a lot of eyes with many miles logged at shows and such if there ever had been another Munson auto 10 slabbed Someone had to of seen one bye now. Is that To much info to ask for on a collectors message board. I've given out any and all collecting info I have on other threads so have many others but in the past couple months seems only things that get routinely said on these boards ends up being about back biting and confusing highjackers . And That's not helping anyone

No, but I did see that a "9" sold for $1,500, so I think $15K is far too high.
  • Thanks for the reply I've seen a hand full of Munson 9s and what they sold for,and for the most part the range was all over the place, depended on the size of the auto, and the overall quality of the presentation, at this point not one single person I've contacted can say they've ever seen a Munson 10 auto slabbed, only recorded sales are 10 auto baseballs , beginning to think if there was one it sold privately or never sold the collector has it somewhere hidden for his eyes only.

Are you making an offer on it? Whats a fair offer that you think they would accept for a 10? Do you realize that all this publicity may hurt your chances or increase their price? (I know zero about autos)
  • With something like this being so rare I don't know what's fair nothing to compare it to, but I do know what they will not take,,, its easy to find out make an offer, and as always the man with the deepest pockets will win,at this point apparently mine are to shallow or it wouldn't be for sale

That's what happens with an auction. With a high BIN, some things sit on ebay for years and never sell.
