Wonder if this is the real McCoy ?Roman legion ring

    Most Roman rings I've seen are incuse. I don't collect these and know nearly nothing about them. However, there are many antique rings that did survive.

    Given the venue, unless there is a solid provenance associated with this item with some literature reference, I would pass. The high relief eagle makes me think this is a more modern item.

    I did pass , although temped I had my doubts too.

    Is the name Jostens anywhere on the ring.

    There's something about the whole look that seems off.
    the engraving is really sharp for the "nicked" surface of the ring.
    Like it was sand cast then engraved.
    But even the cast marks look wrong.

    The two XI Claudia eagle legion rings with carnelian light red stones are awsome.
