New byzantine. Really trying to get into these more, this is my second cup coin.

ANDRONICUS I COMNENUS (1183 - 1185 A.D.)

TRACHY

O: MP - TV. The Theotokos (Virgin Mary) standing facing on dais, holding bust of the infant Christ.

R: AN?PONIKOC ?EC?OTHC / IC - XC. Andronicus standing facing, holding labarum and globus cruciger, being crowned by Christ to right, holding Gospels.

    What reference did you use for this? I have only two Byzantine coins. I do not have any of the trachy though. I have not pursued much Byzantine stuff because I really do not know that much about it and also I do not have a good reference to learn and be able to fill in the missing pieces of legends and what not to figure stuff out.



    I can see the MP Theta V but I can not make out any of the Emperor's name. I would get mad and not want to work any further if I could not figure it out.
