While looking through a large stack of random circulated notes at the local coin shop this morning, this note showed up. I had to do a double take on this one. Amazing! To top it off, I got it for $7.

    The front plate number,307,is a "late plate" and are few and far between.When they do show up they generally bring a high price.

    LFP 307 was used between July 1942 and June 1943. During that era, most of the notes being overprinted were North Africa notes.



    1942: J41304001A to K34188000A blue seal (first 307's occur early in the KA block).

    .........K34188001A to K53984000A mixed blue and yellow seals (mainly yellow)



    1943: K53984001A to K59984000A yellow seal

    1944: K59984001A to K65984000A yellow seal (last 307's)

    1945: K65984001A to K84284000A blue seal



    The LFP 307's are scarce as North Africa notes, but because NAF's were the majority of the printing when the first LFP 307's were used, very few ended up as blue seals.



    The ratio of blue seal 307's to NAF 307's is about 30:1.

    I saw a PMG 35 sold for about the same price in 2012, so I think you got a good deal edit I saw your note sold for $1380 un graded in 2005

    I bid on the floor at Central States, and was very fortunate to land it for opening bid! Tough note in any grade, extremely tough above VF.

    North Africa fp 307 seem to be more easily found than the Blue Seals making this an exceptional cherry pick!

    Let's see...downside, $2 (difference between purchase price and "face" value). Upside, more than $1,000. Nice!
