Something you don't see every day

That "original" collection I've been picking has some really unusual pieces. Yesterday I got pieces from Sarwawak, British West Africa, German East Africa, India, Sweden, Egypt, and this little piece that caught my eye. It's an Ethiopian 25 matonas, nickel, about the size of a US nickel. I believe it's 1923. I've always wanted one of the larger Ethiopian crowns (Birr). This was an unexpected and inexpensive alternative.

If I had to choose one word to describe the Ethiopian coins of this era, I'd go with "exotic". image
