Historical Prices

What's the best source for historical coin prices? I'm curious as to how much (if any??) my collection has appreciated in the last 10 years. I realize I could just purchase old issues of CD Newsletter but are there other sources? Appreciate any help.

The CU PCGS 3000 index and its various sub parts should get you a reasonable change over the past 10 years. You'd have to start by breaking down your collection into a percentage of each area that is tracked. Heritage auction archives would be another good source. The photos from that era were generally good enough to see if the coin is low end or solid for the grade.

In general, I'd say coin prices today are back to 2004-2006 levels. There are exceptions for the top 1-20% of anything. If I picked 2005-2006 I'd say rare coin prices as a whole are generally no higherlower today. A lot depends on what you collect and how prone it has been to whipsawing prices (investor/dealer speculation vs. longer term collector demand).
