shipping costs are rising....what impact

will this have on your business? Priority and first class all going up by about 10% on January 17th. Another chunk out of the bottom line. Will you just absorb it and go on as usual if you are selling online? Or how will you pass this increase along??

Personally I will be offering "free shipping" on fewer items. Lesser expensive items (under $200 on ebay) will be paying for actual shipping costs from now on. I sell too many of the lower priced items to just absorb this postage increase.

Chime in if you would like or can add ways to reduce this new expense.

It will be another nail in the coffin for low priced items. They just won't be worth bothering with anymore.

the positive change in the higher limits on first class will be a net plus.

Business as usual but I see a slight shift in the lower end merchandise. It may push some to bypass the net and buy local if the shipping/cost is comparable to in-store right now out the door pricing

I consider shipping cost into price of my sales before I list on ebay, so in reality the free shipping isn't really free. The only time I really charge shipping is when I list inexpensive things at .99c auction. I will likely continue to do things exactly the same, only now when I am considering offers, my percentage figure of associated costs may slightly rise or I will eat the small increase.

I will probably raise my shipping charges on smaller items by a quarter or so to make up the difference.

It is simply an input into the markup equation to determine minimum selling price or floor price for offers which if below are auto rejected by the computer. I track ebay selling expense as a percentage of sales which gives me a good estimate factor.

For auctions (items I have decided to blow out) if you want 100% sales thruput then list at say 99c or 9.95 and this is simply not relevant. Auctions of fairly big ticket material I might start at a percentage or amount below CDN Bid (having ebay auto relist 3 thimes) before pursuing some other route. Occasionally I get people trying to make an offer on an auction item. I don't care for this at all, and simply tell them "unless item is BIN / Make offer the item is already at our best price." In other words if they want it, then bid in the auction.

I think the cost of getting many 13-15 oz packages into first class will make up the diff
