A French NEWP, and not from NYINC

For a type set of French Republic gold I decided to work on, 1875 A 20 Francs in 65. I've actually been looking at these for quite a while but everyone seemed to think they should be worth $599 or so,, and I didn't agree. Finally got one for a reasonable price.

I've always admired the designs of 19th century French coins. A nice one!

Very nice. You've gotta love those Angels, and I agree- 19th century French designs are lovely. (Swiss and Italian, too...)

I was lucky enough to make a 64 on one I bought raw, near melt, on BST.

These are hard to find in 65 with true mark free 65 surfaces. That's a VERY nice one for the type.

You're right berg, I think thru TPG's give good a break because it's so soft. I've seem some pretty banged up gold in 65 holders.

One of the main reasons I don't collect gold is because I find most "65" gold to look like it was in a knife fight and lost. I'd have to collect 67s for it not to drive me crazy. But, I'd take 65s all day if they looked like your newp.
