1944-D Toned Roll

Was down in SoCal again last weekend and picked up another toned roll from same dealer I got the 41-D Toned Roll from. These have a very different type of toning, with peripheral mottled color and central orange highlighting. What do you think?

Looks really high quality, kind of subdued autumn leaves toning.

I don't think they're as eye appealing as the 41-D coins you posted, but still very nice.

44-D's come sometimes with this type of color-occasionally with violet/purples.

I would keep stopping off at this dealer. I love toned copper though.

Thanks all. I bought several more toned rolls from the same dealer and still need to go through them but thought I'd post this one to get opinions. It's cool to find a whole roll with similar toning!

Do you think they've been searched for RPMs/OMMs?

Yes, of course. Look at my username...that's actually the reason I bought the roll!

What I found was that most of the roll has a ghost of an RPM North but I have not attributed it yet. No OMMs. I think 49/50 of the coins were from same die.

Hah! No worries. The roll appeared to be fully original and unsearched. It was certainly not mixed since all coins had similar color.

This is an EXTREMELY tough date/mm to find with any attractive color.

Turns out the entire roll (except for one coin) is 1944-D/D RPM-005. Makes these a little more interesting. Here's the link to CopperCoins website showing this variety:

Maybe so, but I've been publishing these 3D images for quite a while. The latest CPG still uses the same photo techniques from 25 years ago (updated to digital) with mediocre results. Until we see a published ref with better imaging it doesn't seem anything has really changed...Ray

Yep, RPM#5.

I've found a few, but also found that they're a tough sell.

Your coins have great eye appeal though.
