Plucked this Italian Golden Bear at the tail end of Nov while conducting SS duties. She flares a touch at the b/r, but I was so enamored with the frame job that I quickly found myself not caring.

Now if you'll kindly excuse me, I'm going to hop back on eBay and continue shopping for my recipient so I can buy more stuff for myself.

Congrats! I think that's my favorite early card of him, much preferred over the rookie in my eyes.

My two favorite players growing up. These two cards have been on my radar for a while but I have been focusing more on vintage. Glad to add the Griffey Jr. before his HOF summer.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

  • The Mantle, the Nicklaus cards. Heck even the Donny Baseball and Ken Jr. cards. All great HOFers and all great cards. I can't choose. Thanks for posting.

Purchased in November but received today. Part of my HOF RC collection (Kobe is obviously a shoe-in for the basketball HOF).

Picked this up at a recent show. I think this is the nicest 1971 card I've ever seen!

  • Really digging that Griffey and Donnie baseball. Not to take anything away from the Mantle or the Bear.

Here's a few more from November that arrived today

Not a big fan of refractor cards but the Kobe RC has always caught my eye. He is going to be a big loss for the NBA.

Have to agree with you PaulMaul, that is the nicest '71 Topps card.

SBFinley - That is how cards should be autographed. Not numbered with a million colors like the modern examples.

Rookiemonster - Great Phil card from the last year the Knicks won a championship. Any card of the guy who drafted Porzingis is valuable!

Love both of these cards. I just submitted an 84 Tiffany Strawberry, would love to get a Mattingly.

Dan ... Considering how small the gloves were back then, one would almost think that that glove was exaggerated just a bit!

I picked these two Mantles up last month. I just love, love the 57 Mantle. I get that it's creased and worn, but there is just something about this card that grabs me. Perhaps it's the history of this particular example - it's most definitely been loved. What really strikes me is that the card is full of creases, but almost none of them pass through the image of Mantle himself. I passed on much better conditioned examples, because they just bored me. I had to have this one with all its character.

The 1968 Topps Game Mantle has always been a favorite of mine. This Ex-Mt example does the trick for me:

ALWAYS nice to see someone pick up a MICK. That '57 is a lot nice than many of the other "1's" that are out there.

AC/DC fans are known as partiers so I thought it was funny that the 1982 ticket has "No pass out" printed on it.

As mentioned in my Yaz thread, I was the recipient of a really generous Christmas present from charrigan. In addition to the Yaz pickups posted there, he sent these too.

Casey saw this and it reminded him of my avatar, so he got me this really nice copy. Big time upgrade for my set!

    image

And this is a super addition for my growing hockey collection. When Casey landed his gorgeous high grade signed Clarke RC I mentioned that Clarke was my favorite non-Bruin of the 70's and it would be cool to own his autograph. Casey picked this up at the Toronto Expo and sent it my way.

All of it was very thoughtful. Thanks Casey!!

As always, congrats to everybody on some sweet pickups. This is one of my favorite threads because I love seeing the variety of what everyone collects.

sbfinley--The Oh RC is awesome. Where did you pick that up? Does PSA grade it? I love the Ruben Sierra auto. 1987 Topps is one of my favorite designs and sets. It was the first baseball set I really started collecting. The Sierra card is a great looking card, second only to the Bo Jackson from that set in terms of aesthetics IMO.

Dan, congrats on the pickups. The Williams card is a great addition to your set. Big props to Casey for another great show of board generosity. Nice job Casey!

I have been after this card for a very long time. TB centering is about perfect, I do wish the LR centering were a little better, registration and print look pretty good for this card IMO. Overall, for what I paid I am very happy and overall I am super stoked to finally get this in my collection. This is probably my last big addition for the year. If so, I am very happy to end the year with this card.
