1828 Half Cent - Post Mint Damage?

One of my recent metal detecting finds. Do you think the 'E' in CENT is post mint damage? I've been staring at it too long. Looks like the 'E' is pushed up, then I think I see a little 'Y' from Liberty. What do you think?

The "E" was altered to a "U". Fairly commonly done in the 19th century.

Edited to add: Yes, post mint.

MWallace is correct. I've seen this done on several examples.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that was something they did so long ago. I'll keep digging til I find that super rare coin!
