Queen Anne NEWP

So I just want to say, I'm surprised at what seemed very low prices in the StacksBowers auctions, I know they didn't have any super coins but some decent collectible pieces. I picked this one up for what I thought was a very reasonable price. 1707 E (Edinburgh) Sixpence, NGC AU, a cracked flan but really nicely struck, listed as Scarce in ESC.

Nice piece - that is one bold portrait. Was there much floor bidding?

I bid on a sede vacante german states piece unsuccessfully. One failed bid led to 5 more and before I knew it the price had doubled. At that point, realized the other bidder was invested a bit more than I wanted to be.....

The few I was watching didn't seem to get much floor bidding at all.

Nice pickup. This auction catalog was uninspiring. I am sure the January sale will do far better.

I have long loved Anne coinage, for some reason. And the ones with mintmarks or VIGO below the bust are all the more appealing.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

Floor activity doesn't always gauge but the few I was chasing where overbid except two so I'm very pleased. One had multiple bids from the floor, and the other one had none, but was bid up a few times until the live part.
