question on reholdering coins (prior labels)

jdimmickjdimmick Posts: 9,775 ✭✭✭✭✭
Let say, you had a dozen really nice coins that were all previously holdered but removed from PCGS holders so they could be enjoyed raw. If you wanted to re-submit them back to PCGS , would you stick in the old label in each flip letting PCGS know that the coin had been holdered prior and what grade.

Now I know each coin has to be accessed at present regardless of what it was in before:

some other questions to ponder:

if a coin or two were NGC would you include those labels as well?

additionally: some had cac stickers which no longer matters because cac wont reholder unless you had visual proof it was prior.?

lastly, if you included labels, would you include them on a coin that is clearly undergraded in todays standards?

ps: don't slam me , it wasn't me who took them out , it was a customer of mine

Your thoughts appreciated as I am submitting them in Baltimore later this week

They will be treated as raw no matter what you send in, they could of been mishandled or worse as far the grading firm has to think.

Submit them with the labels and write an explanation on the submission form. Can't hurt.

Though I doubt it would guarantee their reholdering at the same grade, I suppose you could send some of the original PCGS inserts along, both in hopes of encouraging similar grades (though I don't know if the graders would see them), and to let PCGS correct the pop reports.

I'd hold back the labels on any you thought might be undergraded, though, and of course the NGC labels and CAC stickers would be entirely irrelevant and pointless to send.

That best thing the labels can do would be to have those coins removed from the pop reports.

The coins will be graded raw no regards for the labels.

I would not include the labels. The coins don't need unnecessary scrutiny

I keep the old inserts and occasionally attach them to the back of the new slabs.

Especially when I do a cross over - it's my way of doing a comparison

    between TPG's.

The old labels won't help the grade but they will help the pops.

Thanks guys. I knew that it really had no bearing Ill leave them all out and hopefully catch an upgrade (or down grade). Ill keep the labels here, until they get graded and then compare. Then Ill send the lables in and have them adjust the pops

I do this too. As a routine. It's another piece of the coin's history and worth saving, IMO.
