About 7 years, after I was delegated to selling my late father's coins. I quickly "progressed" to buying fake trade dollars and cleaned coins on eBay! (fortunately that phase didn't last too long, after I started reading and found sites like this one.)
This is one of the more interesting polls, and the results should come as no surprise. I just turned 59, have been collecting for 53 years, and still have some of my Whitman albums for Lincoln cents, mercs, and buffalos. Coin collecting was extremely popular for all ages in the 1960's, as silver was phased out, many of these collectors were really hoarders who were making money from the silver still in circulation. Some turned into true collectors and numismatists that we see on this board.
