For those who may not know what is showing this coin and holder to be counterfeit could you list a couple diagnostics?

I reported to Ebay. Good idea for others to report as I believe Ebay sees quantity as validity of such reports.

And another. Here is an 1893-S with an altered date. This is obviously an 1898 that has been butchered into an 1893. Look at all of the scratches and the indentation around the opening of the 3. Furthermore, it has none of the diagnostic obverse die markers and the date is in the wrong position. Good enough to fool one deep-pocketed novice, though...

This one is obviously fake from a mile away. Look closely at the "coin". The details are flat and almost non-existent. There are absolutely no circulation or bag marks. The best thing for you to do would be to take enlargements of the real and fake and compare the two.

As for the slab, the biggest tell is the font. It's just off - the crispness of the characters, the spacing between some of the characters. Again, compare it closely to the real label.

Hey mbogoman and Bob I reported them like I do under the copyright section where you can leave a MSG for ebay to read as I hope it helps them to know why it is a counterfeit and what group is reporting it.

I always report it also under the counterfeit section because a comment can be left. I don't believe Ebay has the knowledge or resources to determine counterfeit or not, so I believe it relies upon many people reporting the counterfeit. I believe Ebay judges the validity of the counterfeit report based on getting many reports.
