Is it possible to tell when an PCGS coin was graded?

I have several PCGS coins in their OGH.
I can obviously enter the cert. #'s through their verification, numbers and coin match.
However, is their a data base linking cert. # to the date when it was slabbed?
Thank You.

You can only approximate by the holder/label.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
I don't think you will be able to get an exact date, but if you can match your slab up to the examples in the link I provided, that will at least give you a rather specific time frame....
I'm interested to see if anyone else can provide a way of finding a more accurate way.

Seems like the site can use a minor update. The last PCGS slab there, 23.1, mentions being used in 2006.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
This is probably a better link for slab generations.

My understanding is that PCGS knows when each cert # was slabbed, but that is proprietary information.
Why is it such 'privy' information?
Changes in tightening-loosening grading standards, perhaps for a particular series?
Do the 'Big 3' have this policy?
(IIRC I have a few old ANACS holders, where you have to cross reference the cert #, (alpha-numeric code) and you get an approximate dateline)
Again, Thanks, Have a Great Week!

I expect that they feel that you don't really have a need to know. All it does is propagate myths, rumors and innuendo like some of the stuff in this thread which more likely than not aren't true.
I only have one coin handy at my desk, it is the 'Copying Prohibited' slab, used from 1995-1998.
Is interesting, Thanks.
<< <i>I've observed or interpreted that I've observed that the cert #s aren't even sequential to when they're graded. I think I observed when I sent coins off last March to get graded is that the cert #s were lower than coins I was seeing on Ebay. >>
Cert numbers are generated randomly every day; they are not a continuous sequence. Of course the cert numbers for a submission are sequential and are likely sequental for the entire day only.
