Change Find, Double Prizes, Home Depot

When I went to check out at Home Depot at the self serve group, I saw a whopping 16 cents laying on the scanning pad. Someone had taken it from the change return tray and laid it on top.

Whoopee, big 16 cents, make my day.

However, the 5 cent coin looked blackish grey, could it be?

Yes, flipped it over, and a big S over the dome, a 1943-S

The coin was beat to snot, but it now is in the war nickels box, maybe silver will go up someday.

Just wait...someone is going to tell you took what wasn't yours.

War nickels are always fun to find, whatever they look like.

I was waiting my turn at a Coinstar and the lady in front of me had two silver quarters and a dime and she was very happy to hear that they were worth a premium.

So true and I always seem to get one with poor math skills who can't figure out the proper change without help.

Several items I've routinely bought from
home Depot have been "replaced" by similar items, but of far lesser quality. The kicker is...they Raise The Price. Examples. Genuine brass hinges by Ives replaced by flash plated thin steel hinges. Nice 8 ply Baltic Birch plywood (russian) replaced by 6 ply Chinese plywood...$4 more!
