Me Too! Twice graded by PCGS as "damaged". I believe they might be looking at the carbon/problem on the left obverse rim but I'm not sure. It sure isn't obvious in hand but PCGS's consistency is very very impressive (even though it's not in my favor)
now that 16-d looks like a matte die had a mint mark added to it and a matte proof planchet was used could something like that of happened...most likely not
but if that coin didn't have that mint mark...i bet it'd be sitting in a holder noting proof strike
regardless that is an amazing 16-d there with super thick rims could they of reworked the die so the inner diameter would leave a thick rim...a simple put the die on a lathe and reduce that surface diameter
interesting coin
but yeah i love the vibrant 35-s best something about that silver toning area that transitions into amazing pure colorful rainbow band...it just glows thanks for sharing these beautys with us
quite some lincoln treasure's you've stumbled upon of late here congrats

My guess is maybe because of the thickness of the rims.

Very nice Lincoln's. The 16-D damage might be the crumbling rim on the reverse. Superb coin though. I wonder if Verdi Care would help out the reverse of that 35-S.
