Mercury Dime guys (and other numismatists), what's going on with the D on this 1918-D Merc?

It could be an RPM. I'd like to see a sharper macro of just the mm though. Looks like a nice coin. I do not recall that being a reported variety either but will check my resources later when I am home.

Tried a couple different lighting angles...it's a tiny little thing and I've never really done closeups. With a loop it looks like there is another mintmark underneath, but either my eyes are going buggy or it looks like an S. I know that's not possible, but it kind of looks like it.

I'll take some more later tonight... My eyes are watering

So just strike doubling, probably, just haven't see this on an 18-D Merc before so I had to pause...

PS. But if you look at the top picture of my latest post, I swear I can trace an S mentally, if I cross my eyes and have a glass of Shiraz

not sharp or crisp though, at least not enough to get past that darn booming luster.
