When you sell coins to a forum member in person

Is the transaction completed in cash or check? Forgive me, I have simply never done this before and I am planning on selling some of my coins.

I suppose it would depend on the member and/or value of collection being sold.
It shouldn't be a hassle nor an insult to the buyer if you requested cash instead of a check for payment.

291fifth---I would take your check without hesitation. Same with many of the forum members here.

There's a live one here, too

That would be if I was selling, then I would meet them at my bank where I have my safe deposit box.
It would be a cash transaction in the room they bank supplies for SDB users.
My bank has a metal detecting building entry system and plenty of video cameras.

But the member asking the question is relatively new and doesn't have the forum experience that you or I have. Better safe than sorry.

Agree. They need to be part of the "Circle of Trust" here before I would take their check.

If you buying plan to show up with the cash necessary for the transaction, if selling tell them you expect payment in cash. At shows I take cash or acceptable trade material at my buying price (it may be CDN, CCDN, BV, pct of CV, etc). If they have money they can find an ATM.
I have dealt with people in their homes both buying and selling. Most were retail clients I had done business with before. Use caution in meeting strangers. Cash is king in any numismatic transaction.
My clients love my free office space as it lowers overhead, thus prices.

I don't think we've ever done a transaction, but I'd take your check in a heartbeat.
I wouldn't take anyone's personal check and wouldn't expect them to take mine.

RYK: I would prefer your cash in gold coins!
