lot 1020 - contested because of a late bid after the hammer. The auctioneer mentioned earlier about late bids. They opened one or two back up, but I don't blame him for eventually stopping the late bids.
it hammered at either 15k or 15.5k and the late bid was 16k.
lot 1028 - ran to 15k then something happened and they had a whole redo on it and it took it back to 15k.
lot 1073 - late bid again for full increment over was not accepted. I missed the hammer price. No entry for sale price yet.
before both 1074 and 1075 - auctioneer reminds everyone that the lots were accidentally switched in the catalog.
With a auction of this caliber it would have been nice if they selected a auctioneer with some coin knowledge who could romance each lot with minor information.

Seems like such an obvious step they would have taken. It comes across rather bland and technical. Sounds like it could have been an industrial auction, no sense of a historical occasion coming through.

One could think that cows are being auctioned here and not coins.
I am very disappointed in the presentation of this auction.
I am trying to figure out what place stacks even has in this sale? The podium says sothebys, its in the Sotheby's building and the auctioneer appears to not even care about what he is selling. How unfortunate.

^Not as much enthusiasm as an Art Auction...but still, quite sad!
They're just plowing through lots, naming some numbers, and giving no importance to the pieces being sold...I hope D. Brent Pogue will limit future sales to competent, enthusiastic, knowledgable auctioneers!

Well, Mr. Eureka did say that at most 128 people in the world could end up with the coins. The 3rd session of Gardner last week was quite lively and informative with Bob Merrill at the helm. While the coins can or should sell themselves most of the time, it doesn't hurt trying to "earn" another 5-10% for the consignor.

Not sure I can listed to the garbled mush for 120 more lots
A bit surprised at some of the coins ending closer to the lower end of estimates, but those were mostly the cheap junk under $200,000.

They could do the auction in sign language and it shouldn't matter on these coins. I believe the buyers know what they are buying.

The auctioneer said it was after the hammer. I'm waiting to see if they re-open at the end or ______ ?
maybe someone there can get the lots' disposition.
Also, there is no hammer entered for lot 1110. I don't know why. I missed it doing a refresh of this thread and talking with the other half.
The auction video sucks.....way ouot of synch. Glad it is not an auction I am bidding.
