ms morrisine, it begins at the bottom, and progresses upward. it is in order of progression. it went to the brooklyn office twice, then the allen park office 3 times, LOL just for laughs, I called the Jackson office... they cant find it. my mail box is maybe 15 miles from allen park, Monroe is 20 minutes south, grand rapids is three hours west, Jackson is an hour west, spoke with a lady at allen park, she says to call my local post office. lol round and round, this item by the way is a $5 package which the post office has now spent close to a quarter of a million dollars driving it all over the state of Michigan

Hey, they also do things right. I recently sent a package to CA from TX. I shipped it at closing time on Saturday (they had to unlock the door to let me out) and it was delivered by close of business on Monday. This was a priority box. I expected it to be delivered Tuesday or Wednesday.

That's bad and I have seen equally bad. Ive had packages sent from and staying on east coast wind up in Arizona and Colorado. My local Post office is small and I am there a lot. I show them this stuff and they just shrug their shoulders. This is what happens when there is no responsibility or ramifications for poor service.

Tis frustrating to say the least.
At least it's close by and seems it will get there soon.

Couple months back I bought some coins from a guy in Tennessee one morning
and it made it into the system by 5 that day And I thought great I'll get them early.

So I kept a eye on the tracking as we all do,to my disbelief it headed west
took a 3-4 day tour of the Rocky Mountains finally ended back to where it started (Tenn)
and showed up 3 days past the delivery date here in Maine.

Gotta love the usps

It also freaks out the scanning system when you refuse a trackable package and it gets returned.

Understood, was just commenting generally to the board. Sorry for any confusion. I once had a member refuse a registered package rather than mess around accepting and then returning it. There was no extra cost that way. The tracking coming back didn't work for the tracking # that it had.

USPS has been pretty good with my transactions (buying and selling), until recently...I have a package stuck in Ft Worth since 10 (corrected) May with the follow explanation of "processing exception"

"The package is delayed and will not be delivered by the expected delivery date. An updated delivery date will be provided when available. The Postal Service has identified a problem with the processing of this item at 8:16 am on May 11, 2015 in FORT WORTH, TX 76161. The local facility has been alerted and is taking steps to correct the problem."

Kinda irritated about this one.

For the last 4 years that I've been an active shipper, USPS has done a great job. The last 2 months, not so much. Their service has slipped a notch without question.

Sometimes even clear tape can interfere with a scanner's ability to accurately read a/the barcode tho I've never had that be an issue.

they have new point of sale software since about that time.

I wonder if they have other new processes, etc.

It will be interesting to see if this is a short term issue that they get sorted (ha!) out or if it persists.

That's why I use clear tape around the edges of the label and over the name/address but NOT over the barcode area.
I got into that habit a few years ago. No issues, but I like to be safe rather than sorry

It never has for me that I can tell, but sometimes these little tracking quirks you see makes one wonder. Always try NOT to wrinkle the bar code in any way.
