I am NOT a Pete Rose "hater"!

The whole affair looks to me like when someone gets accused with and charged with a crime. The accused denies everything while negotiating for a punishment less than the death penalty. The accused then agrees to life in prison and hopes that in time he might get out somehow.

I don't know how much might have come out had the investigation continued, but I'll bet it would have been devastating for Rose, otherwise he would not have agreed (been forced) to accept what amounts to a lifetime ban.

If you forgive Pete and think he should be in the HOF, good for you. But in every interview I have seen (many on youtube) Pete doesn't seem (to me) to be "coming clean" and I am not in favor of his induction. I don't "hate" Pete any more than any of the other players who have the statistics that could/should get them in. They took a chance and got caught.

Edited to add; I don't think Pete would EVER bet against his own team, but that is not relevant, he admitted to betting on baseball and on games he was involved in. That's all it takes to keep him out.

First off, it's not a "law", it's a regulation issued by a sports organization.
Secondly, the discussion is about whether he deserves the Hall, not about whether the ban was justified.

Lifelong ban seems a little harsh.

Maybe change the rule to 20 years or something.

I think most fans want him in.

People get ELECTED into office, if anything comes out prior to the election the voters don't like they don't get elected.

Roses "price" is clearly stated and he agreed to it.......lifetime ban. If he gets in after he passes away that's fine.
