More ebay fun

So, I get a message from a buyer who purchased a box of junk wax from me at the end of March. (Yes, over 2 weeks ago). He claims that the packaging was insufficient for the wax box and it caused the packs to come loose from the box and when he opened the package, they all fell out onto the ground and they got damaged (I send hundreds of boxes out per year, sold through various venues and have had one damaged in the past four years and it was shredded because of the USPS). He said he was so mad (Over junk wax, must be a touchy person), that he threw (yes, he used the word threw) the box on a shelf and forgot about it until just last night. Now, normally, if I was that mad over something, even junk wax, I would have said something immediately. After letting me know of his dire situation over a box of junk wax (it was a 1989 non sport box), he then goes on to request a refund OR if no refund given, leave "appropriate" feedback. Yes, I can read between the lines here, basically, its either "Refund me because I havent learned how to open a box correctly" or "I will leave negative feedback"

I guess he hit me on the wrong day because I wasnt going to have any of it. I suppose he could do a number of things, but I wont be a willing part of an idiot who admits damaging the items himself and then hits me with feedback extortion. Its not the money, I guess, its the principle of it.

I think "appropriate feedback" may qualify as feedback extortion. You may want to report that to ebay because it may make it easier to get the negative feedback removed if he ends up leaving it.

People seem to get really worked up over non-sport junkwax boxes especially classics like "Growing Pains", "Boys 2 Men", "Alladin" etc. I think it's the fact that what's stated above is a part of their childhood coupled with the fact they may think it's a potential investment, so when a hard to find rare box like this gets damaged, all hell breaks loose because of their emotional attachment to it.

That is definitely 100% feedback extortion. Contact ebay immediately. I don't like eBay's definition of feedback extortion, but your example definitely fits their description.
