I've never played the crack and resubmit game, but I was recently rounding out a submission so I cracked and submitted a Rod Carew NM 7 (MK). I honestly couldn't see a mark anywhere on it, so I thought it might grade without a MK qualifier. Popped yesterday:

    just send it back in.. I just got hammered on a crack out sub

    and I mean crushed. not even funny
    seems to be happening often on high profile cards

    I have had my fair share of wins and losses in the crack and submit game. My favorite was an older label psa 9 Rickey Henderson 1980 topps rookie that I cracked and subbed. It came back a psa 7 so I then cracked and subbed to BGS and it came back a 9.....LOL. Good luck if you try and resub the Carew!!!!

    I had a Ryan rookie come back miscut 3 times before it graded on the 4th submission.

    I would also give it another sub and see what happens. With a card like that, even if it takes a couple more submissions you unfortunately have to try. GOOD LUCK!!!

    Now THAT was crazy. The common thing you hear on that is that Vegas lost because of that call and that supposedly everyone had their money on Duke, but I heard quite a bit more money was on Utah. All the college kids with their $50 bets had Duke, but there were some sharps on Utah

    Espn said the casinos actually lost millions on that...for once.

    Do you guys sense they're becoming stricter in their grading vs years ago? sounds like it.

    I'm with psychump on this one.

    Amazing how people just say, "resubmit until it comes back the way you want it". The card was already graded by PSA, who determined it was not miscut. Now all of a sudden it is, but if you resubmit it, perhaps several times, maybe it wont be miscut any more. Tennis, anyone?

    The miscut qualifier REALLY bothers me, I had several cards over the course of three submissions get rejected as miscut and they ALL got grades the next time.

    That's a bummer. I've played the crack-n-sub game and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

    Did you ask for no qualifiers? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a 7(mk) = 5 NQ?

    Either way, I bet it's a good looking card. How about a scan?

    I cracked out a 65 Namath PSA 4 that I thought looked Mint (some wax stains I think kept the grade low) . A very minute piece of plastic from the slab dented the card when I put it in a screw down holder to send in for grading??. I was so upset that I screwd up the card, anyhow I sent it in to be graded and it came back a 6??. I can only imagine if that small speck did not dent the card. 7, 8??

    I had 4 previously graded cards come back MIN SIZE. Go figure.

    I wonder who would have the cojones to crack out a low grade, high dollar card rather than crossing it over. On one hand you have the opportunity to go $4000 up in value, on the other you can drop $1000 or come back trimmed/altered.

    Straight 5 is pretty much same technical grade as 7 (MK), as most qualified cards will straight grade two grades lower.


    Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
