Anyone ever come across fake SilverTowne Bars?

GRANDAMGRANDAM Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭✭✭
I am not saying that these are fakes but a seller is calling them .999 Silver Clad bars so it makes me wonder if he is just new to bullion terms and selling or is he trying to sell fake bars?

So, has anyone ever heard of fake SilverTowne Bars?

So, if a seller lists them as .999 silver clad would you stay away. Do the above bars look OK?

Unfortunately the older style poured bars of Silvertowne and most other manufacturers have very simple designs and would be extremely easy to counterfeit. As the premium over melt increases for these older poured bars, the likelihood of them being counterfeited increases.

It's a know fact, that our "friends" in China, do sell them and have for years. At least the seller is honest enough to indicate that they are plated bars.

The hard plastic cases are a dead giveaway for fakes. Yes, these are fakes.

Here is a side by side comparison:

That's as precise breakdown I have seen, detailing the differences, nice job.

The amount of Chinese counterfeits, truly is staggering.

I guess at even the hint of any question, assume they are bad and walk away.

If they're in encapsulated plastic I don't even consider them. joefro did a good job providing what I thought what common knowledge to "stackers" here image I'm not being a smart arse, I just thought this was common knowledge at this point.

There was a thread on the feepay forums about someone moving the fake Silver Town bars to the tune of a couple hundred k $. That can not be good for ST.

I sent Silver Town a message and pertinent links thru FACTS but never heard back from them.
