My parents are looking to sell about 6 of these. Not sure if spot price, higher, or lower should be expected. Each coin is 1oz. Here's a pic of the front of one of the coins. Any help is appreciated.

    Burnished (non-proof with the W mintmark) American Gold Eagle. Came in all four sizes with a cardboard box and COA purchased directly from the mint. I believe the capsuled coin was also in a blue pouch this particular year if purchased as a single coin and not as the four coin set.

    Let them know spot price is roughly $1210/oc
    Ask for the son discount at an ever 1200/each = $7200 is enough to make most parties happy.

    In derryb's ebay link, the closest ones to your mom's coins would be the PCGS MS-69 coins. And not the reverse proof versions. It looks like the ebay asking price is somewhere around $1,585 for a certified coin, and that's only an asking price - not a sold price.

    Your uncertified coins should be sellable to a third party in an arm's length transaction for somewhere between $1,250 and $1,350 depending on how bad the buyer needs/wants the coin(s).

    The market isn't a seller's market right now, so the most likely price will be near the low end of that range. Your mom will still have a profit from the original purchase price, so the gold did it's job.

    Definitely shop around....get several prices.... however, reconfirm the price if you did not receive the quote the day you go to sell.... prices fluctuate. Cheers, RickO

    One can buy NGC 69s from APMEX for $1326. They are OOS on the raw coins with no buy price listed. Raw 2006 AGEs are listed at $1316. I don't think there is much premium on them. IMO a fair price is the $1224 that APMEX is paying for random year 1 ounce AGEs.

    I'd agree with Bajjerfan... The current spot price of gold at the time of this message is $1202, so $22 over spot price is not too bad.

    JMHO...

    the longer you wait the less you will get, you want to sell?, for the typical buyer your liquidity is at spot...
