Counterfeit on ebay - 1923-S SLQ

Man, this guy is just not stopping!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1923-S-Standing-Liberty-/221687785189

I posted one earlier today that was an obvious misplaced mintmark, but with the flood of key date SLQs this guy has listed he's obviously bought Chinese fakes and is now just ripping every buyer off.

ebay just won't stop listing fakes and it is going to really hurt the business at some point because of folks not knowing any better buying these and getting burned and leaving the hobby. image

Looks like a REALLY bad steel cast, porous and all. I hope this all stops, somehow!!!!!

Even to a guy that doesn't really collect SLQ's, that coin and especially the date look horribly bad. At least it is not a good counterfeit.

eBay does not list the fakes. Sellers list them.

    My message to the seller
    Hi,

I suggest that you google Hobby Protection Act. Its a new law that allows law enforcement to prosecute people who sell counterfeit coins and other items as real. You are in violation of that with this auction.

The right thing to do is take down the listing.

If you think I'm wrong, let me know and I'll buy the coin, submit it to PCGS for authentication, and then we'll have some fun.

This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.

Sad....A very low quality counterfeit. I had a hard time to believe the seller won't know it is a "no good."

    Nice work segoja.

jcping, after looking at this guy's feedback, I feel there is no chance he doesn't know what he's doing. He's actually got some genuine coins listed, so there's no way he's not going to be able to tell the difference between Chinese cast counterfeits and a genuine coin. Alibaba sells these for $1.50 and he's sold a number of them.

As noted in another thread, ebay polices their forum better than they do their fraudulent listings.
