Another 1873-cc Quarter on Fleabay. This time a NO ARROWS!!!

Seems to be the con-man's coin of choice this week:
1873-cc 25c No Arrows

What a awful fake. I mean just pathetic mint mark.
I have plans....sometimes

With a surviving mintage of 5 pieces, this coin is unlikely to turn up raw on eBay.

This round metallic object has more flags than the fight last night on the Super Bowl. No returns, Zero feedback, the aforementioned comments.

    Pitiful.

I have never seen a real 1873-cc with no arrows in person but I know the coin.

Look at the mint mark on this one. It is wayyy off. The real ones have tiny 'cc's and are highly spaced apart.

If it were my auction, the description would not have mentioned the mintmark and the starting price would have been one dollar.

Ah, yes, I see, the sellers other item is an "INB REGISTERED ANCIENT COIN ", aka International Numismatic Bureau slab.

    Text

Questioning the sellers slab, not the coin.

A bunch of these recent fakes do this trick and give reasons for the shipping being slow.

Oooh, that's devious of you. Expanding upon that idea, why not just include it in a lot of cull Seated quarters, with no mention whatsoever of any dates, claiming you picked them up in Europe? Of course, it would be possible to figure out the date & mm combinations from the multiple photos provided for the ebay geniuses out there. No returns. Now that's dirty sellin' at its finest.

I look at it that these fakes are so bad, that it's not harming the market one bit. If they were at least decent cast counterfeits of the real deal, then it might fool some people. The people that are really looking for these rare CC quarters and can afford to buy them.....also know what to look for in the fakes. A thousand fakes like this won't change the fact that there are 5 of them and they all look way different. Now if they pick a not so rare coin like a 59-s quarter, they can probably catch a lot more people by surprise. Very few people can play (or pay) in the 1870-1873 CC quarter sandbox.

Will be interesting if someone would take the risk to bid on this coin for $500 knowing that it could be the ultra-rarity in the seated quarters and probably worth $20K to $100K in any grade. It won't be me though.
