There is a beautiful 1910 Pattern Crown in gold in the 11Feb DNW auction - but good luck in winning. The coin is 1 of 2 and the estimate is 80,000 to 100,000 pounds. NGC PF62, but who cares. Engraver was A. G. Wyon

    This is an amazing pattern... This is one of those times where the general public was short changed since it never was issued as a coin intended to circulate

    OK,absolutely scandalous - after first saying that I too think this a lovely piece of a coin, I actually LIKED the Patina version of it sold in several iteration by Spink some years ago. Full size pieces, one of 42 gms in good gold and nicely done compared to the others. I got one of each in matte and PL for bullion. Very close in appearance to the original at 0.5% the price!

    Coinkat - I agree, it would have made a beautiful circulating crown!

    Currently sitting in Geneva (actually in a hotel on the French side of the airport since the Watch and Jewelry show was this week and no hotel rooms to be had in Geneva). I got .85 CHF for my $ here on Sunday. Thankfully I had some CHF from a previous trip to help ease the pain.

    The Forex exchange looks to be less painful than the actual Davos prices for a hot dog. ....... and I thought "dogs" were overpriced in Rosemont !!! image

    image Even if I had won the lottery (which, sadly, I did not) I'm not sure I could have dropped that much. That is one mega-cool, gorgeous pattern and would make for part of a most awesome gold St. George collection (along with Trozau's sign) but wow... but now I'm curious, did it hit it's estimate?

    The resemblance of the reserve with some modern one year type issues, such as 2005 and/or 2012 is striking.
