What is your strategy for listing eBay auctions today (1 week before Super Bowl)

Next Sunday might be a good day for snipping no reserve auctions.
Sellers may forget that auctions ending next Sunday will be on Super Bowl Sunday

I think the Super Bowl eBay "secret" is so widely known that the number of buyers scouring diligently may even out the number who would normally pay attention but don't. It seems a number of years ago good deals could be had, but that has sort of faded away. Note, this is just my opinion as a buyer and not a seller.

My plan is to stay the course of the last 117 weeks and not selling anything this week either on eBay.

Since they are not buying or paying much of nothing it is a moot issue.

If CDN bid on a coin is $85, I would list it for no less than $84.99 or possibly an opening bid of $90. If it does not sell adjust down the open bid about 2.5% and relist it again as the listings have been free assuming your really hot to move it. You can suit yourself if you want to list it lower - I would go no lower than blue sheet or 80% of CDN Bid and only then if you can stand the possibility you may be giving it away for that.

If the coin is less than $50, start no lower than $9.95 as an opening bid.

About a day or two (or until you can cancel bids and end an item) you can look over the dozen or so you submitted and if necessary cull out the laggards that may go too cheap.

I might start a group of ten coins at auction about 1c to 5% below CDN Bid with a couple at 80% of retail (where there is no direct CDN match). All I need is for two or three to sell to get the cash I am trying to raise and usually this happens. Then the rest which don't sell can be relisted at auction or simply thrown back in the store - fixed price at retail. On occasion, I have had a person buy one of those at retail when they simply could have got it less at auction the week before (go figure).

If you don't care if your going to give something away, well just start them at 99c. Don't be fooled by people who seemed to get big bucks on something they started at 99c - as I bid on a lot of items it appears many of them have shill bidders. Many buyers on ebay are simply there to see what they can rip, steal, or get really cheap. Starting the price near bid helps cull them out.

From what I've noticed the last couple of years. The good deals during Super Bowl time are getting harder to pull off . . . Too many buyers using auto snipers now.

Never been much of a fan of ending auctions on Sunday. Competing with Heritage, David Lawrence, GC and everyone that thinks Sunday is best. Tuesday and Wednesday work better for me.
