1792 Disme Electrotype

keyman64keyman64 Posts: 15,650 ✭✭✭✭✭
I inquired in the other thread but did not get a response. Hopefully some wisdom outside of my comfort zone will be shared here.

Any guesses as to what it might be worth as an electrotype? Who will slab it as such? Any inside knowledge as to what is going to happen with the thing now? image

Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.

No inside knowledge here, but as for what it might be worth - I think quite a bit more now considering the interesting circumstances that have arisen! I would think it would be worth at least a few thousand $ to somebody. It's not like an 1804 $1 electrotype though, not a mint product and I don't think any TPG would want to slab it.

Memories of interesting circumstances better be some exciting tales or they disappear and so does tale premium

As a comparable purchase, I got an electrotype of the 1792 Wright quarter for $300 (I need to dig it out of the bank and verify which was the host coin - there are only two possibilities). This coin looks better done than mine, so at least $500 here. Perhaps a bit more given the recent "history."

I have more than two dozen nice electrotypes, and had to pay ca. $1K each for 5 of them.
This one will sell for more.

Thanks for the replies. Because of the circumstances, I thought it would go for a few K but had no educated idea on the subject.

I wonder what will become of the thing.
