"Restricted" Rolls of statehood quarters - anybody heard of them and/or see any?

I just happened upon some rolls of 'restricted' or 'resident' rolls of statehood quarters....supposedly restricted to buyers in the particular state issued. Described as 'the first coins minted & sales restricted to state residents only' - 25 coins per roll (P&D). The roll wrappers do look authentic enough, but in over 15 years of collecting & dealing in SHQs, I have never seen anything like these before, and so far I have only seen this one example.
Anybody else have any knowledge of such rolls existing? I guess I can google them & see what I find.....

It sounds very much like one of those Home Shopping Network or newspaper promotions where you're supposed to Call In based on your ZIP Code for availability. The whole promotion is a gimmick and not based in reality.

I remember seeing ads in the paper for my state, pretty sure it was an after-market telemarketer type of thing.

Here is pretty much what I remember seeing for my state:

  • Yep - That's them! Thanks for the head's up. I guess they didn't start doing that until after 1999, when PA quarters came out. Somehow, I managed to never see any ads for them before. It always is good to check here before proceeding!

    Thanks!

Marketing Masters targeting the gullible and ignorant!

I wonder how they addressed the different mintmarks? image

Oh yeah, just don't mention them! Clever how they've used the US Mint's image of a Proof Coin........................

  • Here's a BBB review of the World Reserve Monetary Exchange who's behind this:

I went to their website and it's one big rip off:

    And guess who's their "advisor":

Monstrous ripoff. They sell 25-coin rolls, which nobody else does because the banking industry standard is 40-coin rolls, and then hype that they are the only place these rolls are available!

It is hard to believe that: "Senior Numismatist Timothy J. Shisler is a proud members of the American Numismatic Association, Member #135745." according to their website

Maybe a campaign should be started to get them booted from the ANA

Timothy Shisler showed up also in this recent thread on a similar theme... Mother-in-law asking about coins bought at an auction

I'd be curious what Timothy Shister has to say to defend himself.

We're dealing with the "innocent" public who knows nothing about coins; for further questions I'll refer you over to my adviser, former Treasury secretary Mary Ellen Withrew who's only working for us because her retirement social security check isn't enough
