Ancient Identification Question

I have 30 or so unidentified ancient coins. I dont want to take advantage of the forum, asking over and over for other people to identify pieces for me. Mostly because these are coins I intend to sell as I dont collect ancients. Would there be someone on the forum I could send images to and pay them trade them a coin for their services what ever is fair.

Or I could just post them here if I get enough positive responses. I know it can be fun to sit back and identify pieces Ive never seen before or I see some of you trying to ID pieces faster than the next guy.

Let me know what you guys think.

Are they bronze or silver or a mixture of both? Any with writings on the obverse?

Well that was my fear. Ive read a number of threads there and they seem to attack people asking questions. Not everyone has access to information from some obscure book or years of expertise in the field. Ill post a few tonight along with some that I was able to identify just to double check my work.

Only book on ancient I own so far is Aorta signed copy #10. I was able to get in on the preorder and picked it up to help out a forum member.

Despite the other comments, this is not at all my experience. There are some basic, common sense "rules" for requesting info (clear pix of both sides, weight if available, can't prescreen purchases, no discussion of market value, one coin per thread, etc), and these are to help everyone keep attributions straight and makes for quicker attributions. There has been a recent rash of new folks with coins to id who have gotten quite belligerent when asked for additional info (such as clear pix of both sides), reminded not to ask for value or arguing that their obvious fake is real, but again its certainly not the rule. And there is a tendency to encourage the use of online resources which are pretty good, esp for Roman. In the vast majority of cases most coins can be id'd from basic references.

At any rate, if you post some decent pix here I'm sure folks will be able to bang out basic attributions for most of what you have. Look forward to seeing the scans!

Well most here know I can take decent images. Some here buy my listings on ebay so pics must not be too bad. I would ask on simple items, many of the romans I have identified but would just want 2nd opinions on. As for asking for prices from people here, that I wouldnt do just one of those things I stay away from. As for pointing out fakes I wouldnt be mand just grateful for people pointing them out.

Community of learning. Im used to answering alot of dumb questions too. Sergeant in the National Guard with 10 yrs in and it seems that the Army keeps getting younger and younger.
