Honorius was feeling left out

So I had to include him in this week's purchases. Tiny guy, AE3, but partially legible legends and was on the super cheap side. I also like the 3 Emperor motif.

Honorius!

Sorry these pictures are really sucko

Thanks for also tolerating my terrible pictures.

I think the posts would be more attractive if images were embedded. I say take the time and learn the simple process of embedding as it will get people to look at these rather than going to your photobucket account - you already uploaded images to PB. Now all you need is to copy the image link as per screenshot

    image

Remove the URL string entirely just leaving the "image
    "[IMG]http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj75/casinoslave2002/Ancient Collections/Roman Coin Collection/Honorius 393 - 423AD/IMG_3923_zpsd53ab0e1.jpg">"

So basically you should have :

    ----->"

Then do it for the other images.

"At that time they say that the Emperor Honorius in Ravenna received the message from one of the eunuchs, evidently a keeper of the poultry, that Rome had perished. And he cried out and said, 'And yet it has just eaten from my hands!' For he had a very large c***, Rome by name; and the eunuch comprehending his words said that it was the city of Rome which had perished at the hands of Alaric, and the emperor with a sigh of relief answered quickly: 'But I thought that my fowl Rome had perished.' So great, they say, was the folly with which this emperor was possessed." Procopius, The Vandalic War (III.2.25–26)"

Zohar thanks a bunch. I have used the links to add the photos in link form to the posts obviously, but whenever I tried to add a picture image, I always got errors and could not figure out what I should be deleting.

Okay, so now that Z showed me how to finally add a pic to the thread, someone will have to teach me how to size these stupid pictures lol.

This is a Thessaly piece I bought from Bronzemat that looks terribly distorted from a combination of my terrible photography and a super crazy blown up picture.

The only thing I can suggest is shooting at lower resolution. I bet your files are very large.

    Honorius declares Victory:

    D N HONORIVS P F AVG
    Reverse:

It's time to "Feed the Birds".

    Another piece of trivia:
Honorius issued a decree during his reign prohibiting men from wearing trousers in Rome.

Never heard that one before. I have a few neighbors with chickens. Five, I think. From now on I shall refer to them as "____, keeper of the poultry" image

Willie, that is a cool piece. I like the crowning on the reverse. I haven't seen that type before but now I will look out for one.
