This is an actual text exchange. I tried to type it verbatim including grammar.
Him: Hello how much would you pay for a 1941 dime,1920 silver half dollar, and year unknown but very old indian head w/buffalo back silver nickel?
Me: The dime is worth about a $1.20, and the half is about $6.00. The nickel is just a nickel if you cannot read the date.
Him: That's is not correct. I am also a coin collector. Thank you for your time I'll take my business elsewhere the coin shop wants to give me $500 for the dime .. as for the others I have to go take them back here tomorrow thank you for your time and have a good night.
Me: I have a few very nice 1941 dimes. Could you help me sell them? I would give you a nice fee.
Him: Go to a coin shop
Him: I no longer collect them I have a daughter on the way so I'm not buying anymore coins.

Clueless is understandable, but bluffing should not involve outright lying.

I do have several very nice Unc coins that I would gladly sell for hundreds less. I never bluff.

If you stop to think about it, we ALL are clueless morons. Just because one doesn't know the value of a coin doesn't mean they don't know something of usefullness that YOU have no clue about.
So maybe it is YOU who should not vote.

That is a funny variation of the story. The 1942/1 dime would look like a '42 dime at first glance. I don't think anyone would pick up on a possible over date based on a verbal description of a '41 dime.
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

Yeah, many's the time I had those blankety-blank liars in the store saying that so-and-so offered them big bucks for their common coin, but when I offered to sell them another at our vastly lower retail price they never bought one.
