NYINC NEWPS and PICS

A few of the lads (Filthybroke, Zohar, TwoKopeiki) enjoying the $30 breakfast at the Waldorf Friday morning:

image

The folks at the NEN table, they had all gold out on display but many boxes of silver and copper behind the table:

Our own MrEureka looking dapper as always (he had just taken some money off me which is why he looks so happy:

I picked up a 1770 GB Halfpenny in 66BN from the CNG auction but no pics until it arrives. MrEureka had two colorful sixpences that I got in 65, an 1820 and 1825:

Coinkat brought along a 1773 farthing in 64RB that I bought:

And my final British piece was a 1729 Halfpenny in PF64 BN from NEN:

I also picked up 3 German States minors which I will try to upload later today. All in all a very good show, and I have managed to spend my annual budget already so I can relax for the rest of the year.

nice pictures- was the NE table in the largest room on the west wall- opposite side of Mike Dunigan?

    I don't recall seeing them...

  • Thanks for breakfast Jeff! I wish now that I had more time to spend up there, but we all probably feel that way. I met some very nice forum members, and I got to spend some time at the York table, so I'm happy.image

Oh, and I really like that 1729 proof halfpenny!image
  • I always pictured Zohar as a Frank Zappa lookalike..funny how we sometimes build up an idea , cool pics image

Coinkat, NEN was about 20' away when we were at MrEureka's, right behind you along the end wall.

Thanks- JCMHouston- I thought that was where it was- I should have looked closer at their inventory

Dapper? I guess. But mostly, it looks like MrE has been abusing the abundant wine and cheese at his table.

Here's my favorite purchase of the show, an 1854 Uruguay pattern 40 Reales.

    Congratulations on the pattern, MrEureka!

Did you have to overpay (in your opinion) for it?

No, the coin brought almost exactly what I thought it should.

Found this from a few years ago. Any other "family pics" on the forum?

Zohar - if you hadn't wasted time over breakfast, maybe you'd have gotten to the Teutonic first. My big loss was the Eliasberg 1797 9x7 Small Letters Bust Dollar that I missed by a few seconds.

I'm camera shy, but I got war stories!

Thanks! image I don't know what happened. They appear right-side-up on my Flickr page, and when I downloaded, are correct in Photoshop and even the preview thumbnail. Very strange!

I'm thinking the connection is Leopold the Hogmouth.

Alright I'll play along ... I was thinking Ira Glass of NPR ...

    image

edit: He's no Zappa, but still very popular in many circles! And I've heard women find him attractive.

  • I remember this trip very fondly. It was my first time in NYC and was an amazing time! Wish I was going back. Hopefully some of you guys that are going this year can take a picture or two from the show and post them for the rest of us.
