As Ebay will not let me post a negative feedback on a problem coin buyer..

......I am mulling whether to post his user name here, to prevent other sellers from getting nailed.

Relatively new buyer with much feedback. He purchased a lot of ten coins and claimed that 2 were different than advertised. Coins were triple checked before shipping.

Let me know what you guys think.

My solution to leaving negative feedback is simple. I leave postive, as required, then promptly start the feedback this way: (-) NEGATIVE : BUYER WON ITEM AND NEVER PAID. Or change it to the appropriate explanation. The Buyers seem to always then change their feedback to private! Imagine that!

Sellers have not been able to post negative feedback about buyers for over 5 years.

For reasons unknown, eBay feedback is important to people.
Buyers would get ripped out from sellers but were afraid to leave negative feedback out of fear of retaliation.
Feedback is meant to inform buyers about sellers. I'm 100% certain you never went looking at buyers feedback who bid on your items to see if you should cancel their bids.

There is a link to "Report Buyer" on your Feedback page. You use that instead.

And if you leave positive feedback with negative comments - that is a policy violation and if reported is a strike on your seller account.

I have indeed done that when new users were bidding on expensive coins. Sadly that option is no longer available to sellers for the reason that you have stated.

Just one of the many reasons I no longer sell on eBay. Buying is another story, but selling is 100% headache.

It's against eBay rules to leave a 'false positive' and you will be dinged by eBay if you do so!

Absolutely, just use the "Report a Buyer" to E-Bay and then leave no feedback. Don't put yourself in the trickbag of getting dinged for doing everything you think is right. Just let them deal with it.

This and being direct with the Buyer in your communication. If they leave you negative feedback have a local gravel company deliver 6 yards of pea gravel in their driveway as an anonymous "gift".

Use the report a buyer link and report the buyer. You can also look at how a bidder is buying when you look at bidding history and then look at that bidder for canceled transactions.

Did that. Worthless as far as I can tell.

Ebay is a business that offers a service and carries no inventory. Without sellers, they are kaput. With few exceptions, the coin sellers on this forum are quite dissatisfied and/or have packed up and gone home.

Buyer wanted a partial return of 2 coins. He claimed that of the ten 2011 reverse proofs that he bought, 2 were 2011-S business strikes.

Interesting that he had just bought a few of the 2011-S coins a week earlier. No doubt the ones that he would have sent back.

You can reply to the negative feedback and your reply goes directly under the negative feedback and
write something to justify your position in a non offensive manner.

Where they slabbed? Every problem I ever had with eBay was over raw coins, and the inexpensive ones to add insult to injury. My last neg was over a roll of circulated Liberty Nickels I sold for $26. Never even asked me to try and fix his problem. The people who buy the low level stuff are your one star players, so do not expect a four star response.

Reminds me of the time I sold three PCGS PR69DCAM slabs to a guy (a 1-star player, as Armen so eloquently put it) and he didn't agree with the grade so he opened a SNAD case against me. And ebay sided with him and refunded his money. Even though the slabs grade is guaranteed by PCGS, and the photos were awesome. eBay sucks.

At my own expense - both monetary and a great deal of time and phone calls - yes I got them back. Probably knocked a couple years off my life from the stress. Totally not worth it. Easier to just consign to an auction site or even someone else's eBay store and let them deal with the drama.

As Ebay will not let me post a negative feedback on a problem coin buyer..
