The new Gobrecht Journal is simply amazing.

Putting aside my obvious bias, this is a masterful upgrade. Larger in size and full color. If you enjoyed the GJ before your are in for a real treat now.

If you are not getting this great Seated coin publication you really should consider joining the LSCC.

As new LSCC President, I am extremely proud of our redesigned Gobrecht Journal. The Journal was released at the Whitman Baltimore LSCC regional meeting to about 40 club members and then mass distribution today via 1st class mail.

The new Journal is now printed in standard 8.5x11 size and all color. The advantages to those who published in the Journal and to the Editor, Bill Bugert are obvious. The large size color format allows writers to use detailed color images to illustrate articles along with more complex table formats. Using full color also provided a new advertising medium for business focused on Liberty Seated coinage.

Feedback is important and I look forward to hearing comments from the LSCC membership and hope that non members may decide to join our club to access the new Gobrecht Journal along with many other benefits.

On Saturday at the Baltimore show I was speaking with Ute Wartenberg, director the American Numismatic Society. She said that her members really like print publications, and consider them a nice diversion after a hard day at the office. Our future research activities and personal communication will of course continue to move to the Internet, but people still enjoy print. The new format of the Gobrecht Journal is a visual feast, and coins demand color. It is great the LSCC has taken this step and I think it will be very well received.

I like both print and electronic versions, actually.

I prefer to read journals and books on paper, but I also like the convenience of digital storage and the ease of searching electronic publications.

It would be really nice to have both.

$20 / year is very reasonable and I would consider it but I'm 100% online these days.

As much as I love color journals, and I do, they are something I read on occasion and not regularly.

An web journal with TrueView like photos would be something I would support. I don't mind if it's password protected but that may impede search engines like Google and Bing.

I Love the new format of the Gobrecht journal. A Big Thank You to Bill, Gerry, and all that contributed to making it. The journal is a great medium for members to share information, document research, learn from experts, advertise, and stay abreast of current events. I have really enjoyed publishing articles and discussing them with numismatists. I discovered that the journal provides two distinct advantages compared with many other periodicals. First, having the freedom to write about topics that other periodicals are unwilling to publish. Second, being able to publish articles in their entirety instead of allowing an editor to make significant edits without the writers approval.

Received my copy while at the Baltimore meeting and just finished reading it. Love it! Easier to read and top quality print and pictures. Of course the best are the great articles, as usual, in the publication. Thank you to those that devote the time to share their knowledge by writing these articles. Especially enjoyed the lead article about the Robert Patterson Collection as it included interesting insight into some of the activities in and around the Mint in the early 1800's.

My greatest pang with the new sized Journal came when deciding where to place the First Strike Sticker.

Got my copy of the new GJ today, and just finished reading it. Very nice. Very, VERY, nice. Really.

Thanks to Gerry, Bill, Len, Craig and the countless other volunteers and contributors for their service to our little community.

One article surprised me: after all these years of knowing Jim Macor, I had no idea that he studied Seated Dimes. We've only ever talked about one specific denomination.
