Were you aware that you can expedite your PCGS submission upon request?

I have a Regular Submission that is now at 19 business days in house.
According to the PCGS Website, a Regular Submission is taking 16 business days on average.
The CSR(James-very nice guy) said that he would put my 19 business day submission on 'expedited' status.
Anyone have experience with this situation?

Longest I've ever waited for a 'Higher Dollar' Regular Submission.....why shouldn't I question?
Oh, and I'm not impatient.....just concerned.

The manic personality is a common trait amongst coin people, as is paranoia. It's only three days late to everybody else but to lots of coin people a lot of incredible scenarios can be imagined in three days. I've had submissions delayed months for various reasons. Three days is nothing to sensible people but to others it's a whole different story.

Manic I may be....but from your post, you recognize this affliction, degree of affliction is up for bids.
Liked your post WTCG.

You might need a time machine to actually pull off what James is offering.

<< <i>I had send a modern sub a couple months ago and when I called it was at 34 days, while the web page noted the average was 20. He asked if I would like to mark it expedited and I said sure. 4 days later my grades posted. >>
I hope that's an omen.
James said they were very busy with submissions.
... just sit back and relax (maybe take a long vacation) in the interim.

Me thinks James would be fired if he were to say.......they were slow. No?

Candle light vigil for GB until his grades post.
I'm with ya buddy, 22 days for me too on a regular submission. It's hard to be patient sometimes, but hey at least you didn't send a darkside express submission which shows 26 days, even though regular is at 24.
Thanks for the support Dan.......guess what?
Day 23 has just passed!

Same here and with Baltimore going on I'm not holding my breath for anything before late next week. Oh well, I'll go play some Ben Harper while the candles burn.

My Regular submission was received on 9/29......7 business days before you.
How can the top TPG PCGS finalize grade one customer(panther) in 16 business days, and not grade another customer(me) in 23 days and counting?
This is not a good situation......especially since my submission was marked as expedited last week by James.
My Economy (day 34) has 17 coins.

<< <i>Does the amount of coins in the submission affect the time taken?

Shouldn't. Unless it has changed, it was mentioned before that submissions basically go on trays and graders reach in and grab a tray. They spend, if I recall what Mark Feld and some others have said, much less than a minute per coin, unless there is a need to spend more (they think they see something, etc). So, 17 coins would be under 1/2 hour at the worst case scenario, imho.......grabbing, grading, taking a bathroom break, grabbing a quick drink/snack, putting tray back as done, etc. Then you get the rest of the logistics, but even that shouldn't take that long.
It's also been said this month is seeing lower than normal submissions (dbcoin mentioned that elsewhere)....so, maybe vacations? Maybe shows? I really don't know. I just know they weren't FIFO before and I doubt that has changed.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Coin certs in October are 50K lower than last October. A $1M shortfall compared to last year. Sudden trend change or one off? Last time a month's coin certs were this low the stock was $10. One the plus side, card certs are up slightly and every short is way underwater.
Guess the expedited status went with the wind.
When you finally get your grades, after all this waiting, I hope they are what you were expecting. That would be the icing on the cake to have a really bad result.
I see they just upped the economy to 34 days. (I have some orders in and one of mine just hit 35 days.) 2 months from start to finish (counting shipping) is a long time to have ones coins tied up. In my 35 or so orders this year, this is by far the slowest.

No kidding. I had a grade guarantee submission in the shop for close to 4 months.

I called PCGS and they said all is well with my submission.
And to think James put my order on expedited service over a week ago.
19 Days Regular service. No idea why some take longer than others.

Gorgeous dirty $2½ gold Indian TS2C.....glad someone is getting speedy service.
Super Expedite Power, Activate!
I'm sure mine will be done tomorrow first thing.
I posted that info on this board (just to let people know that so they would be more relaxed about the turnaround time) and just about everybody freaked out (LOL).
Still I have had experience with sending a bunch of submissions (of similar coins, and at the same service level) in the same shipping box to PCGS. They all get checked in within minutes of each other. Yet the results on my subs were done nearly a calendar month apart. The slowest subs came nearly 20 biz days after the after average turnaround time said it would be ready.
Ultimately, It's neither here no there ... it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things ... but getting stressed out or calling PCGS is of no help. They might tell you over the phone that your order will be "expedited" -- the truth is they have no idea where your order is at any given moment -- and they are just trying to get you off the phone and out of their hair.
Your slow order is not "lost" and it will eventually be graded -- it just might take an extra 20 to 30 biz days over what they post as the average turnaround time. And of course you will probably be annoyed that others post how fast PCGS graded their subs and that they were faster than the average turnaround time posted. That will happen with random order policy. When I was waiting for my slow submissions, I saw tons of posts about how fast PCGS was (LOL) and how they submitted things only a week or two previously and already had their results back.
My best advice is to try not to think about it --- put your mind elsewhere -- and eventually you will get that email that your grades are ready.
Two calendar months from the check in date is a good guide to use (ignore the average turnaround table) -- your grades will almost always be ready by then. They may come faster ... or not.
The turnaround times posted are just a guide and not guaranteed.
Get outside, take a walk, play with your kids or your dog, go to a movie, tell your spouse you love them. Watching the pot (so to speak) just makes you stressed out -- and it doesn't help it get done any faster.
