Viking hoard

Someone was lucky enough to find a viking hoard not far from me http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-29582866.

I've been lucky enough to get permission from a local farmer to detect on his fields. He has 70 fields so it should keep me busy for a while.

Ah. Pretty cool history lesson there. I clicked through to read about the Rus' peoples. I'd always wondered about the origins of the Russians.

That's the cool thing about Wikipedia. You can start with one topic and keep clicking through, ending up miles away from where you started. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Many's the time I've started out reading on one topic and ended up learning something completely unexpected and unrelated, sometimes forgetting what the original topic was.

I can relate to that. I use that site quite often, it's addicting .
