<< <i>From time to time I've seen postings of an entire collection in a sort of grid fashion, i.e. all of a collection visible in an entire photo comprised of individual photos.

Where can I find software (hopefully a free download) to do this? Or, barring the availability of free downloads, something that can be purchased inexpensively?

    Thanks! >>

Google "GIMP" -- it is free. All you need is software that allows you to create layers and you can add as many coins as you want to such a photo-board. One member here seems to think that it's some great invention of his, but I have seen these "digital boards" posted on coin forums for ages.

    Cheers.

Not free but I used Photoshop Elements to do that.

biggest thing is the round cropping of a coin...i use picasa 3 (free software) to achieve this in bordering my cropped image
pretty sweet free photoshop...easy as pie to use and diverse enough image fine tuning selection addresses for me

then ensure all back grounds to be same color...

then with standard windows photo supplied image photo editor....start pasting your inclusions sized accordingly here n there...etc
once all done there...save it to retain such effort in tact...re-open that image again and start adding your written text

space monkey had templates that had shadow mirrored reflections of coin image that was a lil sweeter

one can even use free .gft websites to layer different images of a coin on top of each other
    say a straight on "detail-theme" image...then a tilted or patina "color-tune" image...then like 2 "luster-theme" images to catch cartwheel
such a .gft can have fade from one image to next speed and dwell time adjusted to best overall effect and then you have a one in all coin image

some like a .gft.....as it can display cartwheel and or patina color display at different angles

how fuzzy are you about image of your coins and how much time are you willing to devout
    end results reflect such

THERE IS ZERO REASON TO PAY FOR ANY PHOTOSHOP SOFTWARE...TOO MANY FREE ONES EXIST
everything in life is but merely on loan to us by our appreciation....lose your appreciation and see

If one insists, I thought it was around $10 at Costco.

Space Monkey was using Photoshop. I have his template on one of my old computers. I think this one has about the forth edition I have got on it. I would rather pay than keep having to make work around's to get what I am aiming for.

i've not seen a feature that photoshop has that isn't offered in at least 3 of its free version counter-parts (there probably are some though). that is the point of open source and dissemination. image (i wonder if it has spelling and grammar check) that would rock! i may even take the time to learn unix or linux or another free OS so i can dump microsoft but alas, i'm too lazy for now it seems.

not to imply photoshop isn't badazz cuz it is.

i want to know when we will have a program that simply does everything that all publicly available programs can do currently? only certain features would work based on a person's computer specs!!!

these "boards" can be done in ms paint quite easily. copy-paste is a powerful feature.
