I've been doing high resolution 2D and 3D Imaging of Top 100 and lesser Lincoln Wheat Cent RPMs and have completed a nice group for folks to view. Here is the link to the folder on photobucket:

Me to. Will check back later and see if I can see some pics!
ok, i can see them again, phew. since it was a new-ish thread, i wanted rpm to know right away in the event it was something he did on his end with the albums or public settings.

<< <i>Absolutely stunning. It's like looking at the surface of a planet with its mountains and valleys. Well worth the perusal. Thank you for sharing. >>
Exactly what I was thinking. Mars Rover images...

Remember the old video game BattleZone? I feel like I am playing it while I'm doing the rendering. This one sort of has that character:

I do remember BattleZone. Early '80s. You could feel the shells exploding nearby and of course when you got hit. Plugged a lot of quarters into that machine (and drank quite a few beers).
"can you hear me major tom"
it is so funny others see that as a martian surface. it was the exact same thought i had too. in fact, the first thought i think i had was the following movie. do you know it? i would have posted sooner but i
was over at vamworld doing some discovery pages and posting.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

<< <i>Very cool! This would be a really good way to illustrate the difference between die doubling and strike doubling. Even better if you can output a portable 3D surface that can be viewed with something like Paraview. And then even better than that would be hosting them on your own web space and using a Java 3D viewer plugin that would allow viewing as a 3D object without separate software. >>
Good ideas, if I only had time to put that together. I can output a depth map that can be rendered on most any viewer, no problem. Been thinking of hosting my own images rather than using PB.

John...can you recommend a good Java 3D viewer? ...Ray

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
<< <i>Try JSC3D. There are some demos there that work quite well. >>
that looks very familiar. i recall watching some footage/documentaries regarding scanning objects in 3d into a nice software program that permitted full rotation functionality and editing. they were scanning small objects all the way up to large marble sculptures. the software rendering looks very similar if not exactly the same.
