<< <i>The item arrived to PSA on the 14th and was entered into their system at 11am on the 15th. Given that it was "same day", I thought I'd have a result by the end of the day. I noticed that the result was posted at approximately 5pm on the 16th, and I received the shipment notification today, the 17th.
That looks like darn fast service to me. Your expectation was that you would have a result by the end of the day. Just because the result wasn't updated in the system viewable to you doesn't mean it wasn't graded that day. But that really isn't the real issue here.
I've sent hundreds of items to PSA, including two '52 Topps Mantles which did come back authentic. To infer I should be "banned" because this item came back as questionable is a bit offensive. I could not determine for myself, and my cost was covered by the seller if it was deemed to not be authentic, so I sent it in to them for their opinion. In fact, any time I buy something on eBay even if I KNOW it's unauthentic (such as a fake Jordan rookie), I'm required to send it in to 3rd party grading in order to get reimbursed by eBay or the seller, that's eBay policy.
DPeck is correct that the only reason you're complaining about the turnaround time is because your $200 Ebay estate find Mantle turned out to be a fake. With your experience stated above there's no way you didn't know the card was fake. But you think you had to submit it for grading to be able to return it to the seller. It of course comes back a fake and now it costs you $186 to return the $200 Ebay estate find 52 Mantle you never should have bought in the first place. You want to gamble on irresponsible purchases and pay nothing when you lose. You want your money back from the seller, and now PSA for grading, so your roll of the dice ends up costing you nothing. You don't need PSA to return Ebay purchases. Just return them and if you use your credit card protection if Ebay or the seller gives you any resistance. Disputing PSA's charge based on your interpretation of what was suppose to occur is a weasel way of trying to get out of your bad purchase unscathed. >>
He paid for a service that he didn't get. Why is this so hard to comprehend? If he paid $75 for 2 Day service, then fine. But he paid $150 for same day service and got the $75 treatment. It has nothing to do with the grade. He is standing on principle and doesn't want to be pushed around. And BTW, I got my grades back today. My 1962 green tints are now correctly holdered as green tints. If I hadn't taken a stand and accepted PSA's flawed grading, it would not have happened. So don't back down Kencope.
If I owned such an iconic/expensive card and was so sure it would pass muster with any reputable grading company, I'd of just had it graded on my own if I was going to put it up for sale. And avoided all these headaches. JMHO which would work for me.

He paid $150 for the $2000-$4999 service. Why can't you comprehend that? We don't have these discussions on the coin board. What is with you card guys?
I can only hope you don't treat/talk to people like this in real life.

You guys who are telling him to fight this.....have you pulled up a submission form since this started? The words "ESTIMATED Turnaround" couldn't be any more emphatic. We can agree that maybe they should change their terms on certain service levels, but in the meantime, if you sign the current form you are agreeing that the "Same Day" level is ESTIMATED just like every other level.
I don't think anyone is disputing that fact that they have a disclaimer that all turnaround times are estimated, including me. I'm not asking for a full refund. What I'm asking for is that if they can't meet the stated time, that they charge you at the level that they did meet. For instance, if you submit for 2-day and it takes 2 weeks, you should be charged at the 2 week level.

I think where your misinterpretation lies is that you believe you're paying a $75 premium for turnaround time. In actuality, that has very little to do with the $75 fee difference.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Thanks for your input on the topic.

If the seller was willing to refund the OP's grading costs, why would the OP be trying to screw PSA out of their grading fee. Let the seller pay for it, especially since based on addicted2ebay's post the seller knew the card was a problem. Maybe now the seller is balking on refunding the full grading fee and the OP is trying to get PSA to make up for what the seller won't pay. Or maybe the OP can still make money from the deal by getting both the seller and PSA to refund the grading fee.
They got me a few months ago with the same card. Nicest looking copy I've ever seen. Gave a full refund though.
Edit: I was able to avoid paying grading fees, the print dots on the back gave it away under a loop.
Was this your purchase addictedt2Ebay? If it was, great use of the Ebay feedback system. Maybe all the OP needs to do to get a full grading refund from the seller is to promise a nice big juicy glowing positive feedback. Then the seller can list again and hopefully next time won't sell it to somebody who will send it off for grading.

Again, if you'd start using facts instead of making things up and insulting someone you don't know your comments would be seen as much more valid and might warrant a response at that point.
