O/T Requires Media 12.2 Update

I just started to get a prompt on my computer to update Media 12.2.
I proceeded but Norton told me not to proceed.
I keep getting the prompt to update.
I am running Win 7 32 bit.

Any computer geeks out there have a solution for me??

Harvey,

Most likely this is virus/spyware/malware. If you want to install any media player updates wait for Windows update to install it or go to the microsoft website.

I disabled an unknown add-on and it stopped prompting me.

Here's a free download, excellent malware buster

Was recommended here on the forum and is a great utility to run periodically.

that malwarebytes seems to do a good job.

there are some things it can't get to, you know, those hard-to-reach places; and for that, there is 1 best solution, above all else.

Your program found more malware than my old program.

I had IObit Maleware fighter and it didn't fix it.

also helps to visit your "add and remove programs" in your control panel and see if any programs were installed that you did not authorize. If in doubt, leave it installed. Occasionally an obvious badguy will be in there.

Got it on my laptop that I rarely use....

Installed the Malware Buster and now its fine......
