2 more quarterly crossovers: Proof IHCs
I like 'em toned.
Had these for a few years and sent them in with the quarterly special last quarter (they failed to cross, at grade, once before, but I felt they deserved it...and so did another member here, so I took the chance)....
Crossed at grade.....
I, personally, don't like the "blue" copper proofs. I know the arguments for, and against, them. Regardless, I don't like them. I like to have a few other colors. A little blue is fine but I also like to have orange/yellow/red/green/whatever (just not carbon spots when it can be helped).
Looking at the others that are in Coinfacts, I like these better than most (a couple I do like but they have too many little carbon spots).
These are out there and aren't "rare", being toned, by any means, but they also don't grow on trees with nice toning!
Let me know what you think on these.....and, if you want to look up the cert# for the grades, you can also let me know if you think they are overgraded
(both are, obviously, BN examples).....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

If you want, grade them OR price them. Or, guess what I paid. I don't mind telling after a bit since they are in what would be called strong hands. I didn't get them for "a steal" so I won't be trying to brag, but I also don't believe I got ripped off on them.
If you don't want to guess, that's good too...I hope you just enjoy the photos....I love Phil's photos on these.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
(hopefully you update this thread with grades)
as i'm not cheating...but i finally did look up your matty and quarter
that matte proof surprised me with it's paltry grade...not exactly brown either
yeah that one shocked me
ok these indians...gorgeous and stunning
kinda surprised you had sub them twice as pcgs should of been proud to sport them in pcgs plastic
"i'd think"
the 1900 i think has money color on it...
the 79' looks cameo...but toning on copper can hide the field so not really thinking it sits in a cam holder
1900 has pop...the 79' is a subtle one but surely above most
i likes um both
don't sweat the blue on copper i say as surely there's no need to defend your position on it
Toned proof ICHs with nice eye appeal are pretty tough, and yours are definitely at the upper end of the scale. I saw a really nice toned 1885 (PCGS PR66 CAC) recently at a show that Joe Kaminski had for sale. The coin had the color palette that you like. I almost pulled the trigger, but just did not have the powder available. Not sure if he still has the coin for sale, but it would be worth checking out if he did.

Thanks.....I'm glad you, and others, like them as well.
I have seen some nicely toned, PR66BN as well, but they are usually priced way above what I would pay. 4 figures. They may be worth it, to some, but it is more than I would want to pay right now.
Lakes - thanks. You have seen them in person and it was your thoughts on them that was the final push to send them in on the crossover
Teddy - I agree...I was surprised they didn't cross last year as well. Just for your edification (shhh...don't tell others....) the 1879 is a PR64BN and the 1900 is 65BN. Thanks for the comments on the MPL as well. I can't figure out why it is a 63
BN either, but that's what NGC and now PCGS have called it. They know more about grading them than I do. I do know that guide price wouldn't pull it away from me as I like it better than that, so, it is what it is with the grade
OINK - you are correct. Hard to grade by the pictures. That's why I let those that want to "guess" do so, but leave the certs on there now...and just enjoy the pics. I really like the toned IHCs better than most coins.
I now have 19 proof IHCs. All with some toning. Some nicer than others, but I like them all. Obviously, none are RD (obviously, since I like toning on them), 9 are RB, and 10 are BN.
The price guides favor the RD, then RB, but I have generally liked many of the BN much better due to toning.
