A really cool BIN- 3 Seated Half Dimes found in a 19th Century Wallet!

I'm glad I was able to catch this one. I thought it was a pretty rare find. I know nothing about wallets, so I'm not sure about the age of it. Seller said it was victorian era. Maybe someone here will know. I gave the coins a acetone bath but will keep them original. The 1858 looks to be around AU55, it has some really nice rainbow tone and good amount luster. The 1861 I would say AU53, a little luster. The 1845 is low grade but has some graffiti in the obverse field. I still need to take some pics of them.

How weird is that? Seller emphasizes wallet.

Oh yeah, there's three half dimes too.

"Victorian era" typically is used as a reference to British history during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901).

The purse/coins are more like post Hard Times, pre-Civil War period for the U.S.

That is very cool! I wonder what else was in there that was not in the auction? What a deal on the coins also!

I'd pay what you did for the coins, the wallet all day long! The '45 is a bit rough, but the others are very nice for the price.

I did find a small paper note, looks like a shopping list and a tiny piece of newspaper.

Half Dimes I think are underpriced as some people don't want small coins but 3 cent silvers are strong?

It is the easiest complete set you can make in the otherwise very hard Seated coinage series.
I seldom check PM's but do check emails often jason@seated.org

Buying top quality Seated Dimes in Gem BU and Proof.

Buying great coins - monster eye appeal only.

Only if you "situationally" redefine "complete" to exclude the 1870-s.
(Like the LS dimes, this allows at most one person to have a complete set).

Seated Quarters seem more feasible without excluding any dates, as the key 1873CC NA has 5 known.
(Unless one includes the unique 1866 No Motto, but I think it's a pattern?)
