Questions on Submitting PF ASE to PCGS

I am considering sending in some Proof ASE's for grading and have a couple of questions. These are really purty coins and I want to pull the slot machine handle and see if I get any PF70's. Should I just put the coins in flips when I send them in? Should I put them in poly bags first? Should I shoot them with canned air? Should I bathe them in acetone? Any other suggestions from experienced board members? Should I let my cat give each on a lick?

All these questions are serious except for maybe the last one.

Kind regards,

TB

To each their own I guess. Me personally wouldn`t send a piece of bullion for grading, rather put them in airtites
and just enjoy them that way. Less cost, zero aggravation, et al.

Leave 'em in the OGP caps. Even if a TPG wants to surcharge you for removing coins from them, it is worth not risking losing a grade point or more because of mishandling.

image on leaving them in the capsules. I got several gold coins to 70 that way and was never charged anything by our hosts.

There are little bits of lint inside the capsule under 10x mag. Should I just not worry about it? Do they shoot the coins with compressed air or something before they are slabbed?

I wonder if they had done this before, spray the lint off with compressed air.
That may be where those dreaded milk spots were caused from. Any water vapor
forced onto the silver surface would do that. Maybe a camel hair brush to knock the dust
    off is the better option?

One would hope they would use dry compressed air with no traces of oil in it. I do not think that is the cause of the milk spots.

Never saw any lint on mine so don't have a answer for that.

Yes.....always do this. They will/should clean them

A camera sensor dust puffer would be better than canned air. Canned air comes out really cold which could cause condensation to form on your coin. Something like this: Puffer
Safe enough for a delicate CCD sensor, safe enough for your coins. One way intake valve opposite the directing nozzle so it doesn't re-inhale the dust you just blew away.
Use a micro fiber cloth to wipe out the mint capsules if you open them to remove the lint and plastic debris.

Proofs have never been considered bullion. Buying, Selling, or Collecting. BTW they come in Air-tites from the mint.

I would never put a proof in a flip....I always send them in a capsule and never have had a surcharge (both companies)
