Coins/currency/tokens are the only things on which I really spend money. Lately, I've started to really get into shed hunting- whitetail and moose. A few finds from this year...

I am slowing up on my firearm collecting only because everything I still want is approaching 10k each, and my wife does not like more than 2 guns on tri pods in the living room at any given time. ( I am hoping a (SG 43) on wheels will be okay. Then I have the cars, models, political and just about anything that requires wads of 100 dollar bills.,

Your post takes me way back to my childhood, which was in the 1950's:

    1. A huge collection of comic books that I obtained at my father's drug store. I better remember the early issues of Playboy magazine that were on the shelf, but I dared not bring them home. Significant current value that my grandfather threw away because I needed to "grow up".
    2. A nearly complete collection of baseball cards from about 1953 to 1958, disposed of by my grandfather for reason posted above.
    3. Marbles. Although I did not really "collect" them, I just acquired them from other players. I had thousands of marbles, most all of them gained with a cigar box with a hole in the lid. If someone could drop a marble through the hole I would give them thei marble back plus three more. And in the end, my mother gave them all to a younger cousin after I had long moved out of her house. But she at least asked if it was OK........

    4. Coins. I inherited my father's coin collection and I added to it throughout my teenage years. The coin collection was kept in a safe deposit box where my grandfather could not get to it.

My grandfather is forgiven. He was only trying to do the right thing. I had no idea what he was throwing away.........and neither did I.

And now I collect antique bamboo fly rods and Porsches and keep adding to my father's coin collection. I hope he is smiling from heaven.

To a limited extent I collect movie and TV memorabilia, particularly if it relates to a show to which I have had a personal connection such as contributing to its production, having been on the set, or a family member or myself having appeared on the show.

Pictured below is some prop money from LOST, a TV series in which several family members have been extras as pictured following to include my son with LOST character Sawyer on the LOST plane and with LOST character Dr. Jack Shepherd in a scene at the airport.

As to my own appearance on Hawaii Five-0's Halloween episode last fall, while the cape, mask, and hat provided to me had to be returned to costuming, I at least have the screen shots as momentos. Pictured is my scene stepping off the Party Bus and another as

background at the Mansion Halloween Party with the principal Hawaii 5-0 actors Scott Caan and Alex O'Laughlin. Of course I still have the suit and tie I wore as memorabilia from my Dateline appearance with Keith Morrison as further pictured.

Finally pictured as hanging in my office is the crossbow and the prop swords and shield from the Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan movie Shanghai Knights. Below the photo of my displayed crossbow/swords/shield are screen shots from the movie in which these props are seen.

For those who recall the movie I also have the Imperial Seal that was the object of Jackie Chan's search to aid the Chinese Princess. (Actually I have one Imperial Seal made from crystal for filming close-ups and a duplicate with translucent rubber, substituting for the crystal, which was used in action shots when the Imperial Seal was being tossed between the actors.) Pictured at the end of

this post is a screen shot of the crystal Imperial Seal as seen in the movie and following that is my photo of the same Imperial Seal as seen in the screen shot together with the rubber version that was used for the action shots.

I recently started buying slot cars again. It's been many many many moons since the cranford raceway was open image ( approx. 1968 ) We're planning on buying a new house and one of the things I will have done is having a custom track built.

Old Mercedes, a small collection of Yankees/Mickey Mantle cards and stuff. Interesting items made from mostly 90%-.9999 gold from Asia. Other stuff, am a collectoraholic.

I like those license plates! I've got same plates from NY the Empire State from 1954, 55, 56, 57, 59

Got em from "crazy Frankie" on watts st in nyc, a friend of mine and I think a friend of theirs too image

I miss the old "slot car tracks". We had one down the street from our home when I was growing up. I could never afford those cars back then , but it was a blast going to watch other guys "racing" on the weekends. image The good old days, huh ?

As recently as a few years ago one of the local malls that had lots of vacant space had a track set up.

makes me regret giving away my 1913 Michigan license plate I recovered while metal detecting, it was found in dry sand and was in really nice shape with most of the porcelain intact, at first I thought it was a street sign as it was white on green (as our signs are) I tossed it, then realized it was HEAVY, retrieved it, and gave it to my father in law. I also collect rare ford mustang and ford galaxie parts, and a handful of other interesting junk
regardless of how many posts I have, I don't consider myself an "expert" at anything

Updated to Add: For anyone interested in seeing Shanghai Knights I have just learned that it, along with Shanghai Noon, were just released in Blu-Ray (and DVD) last year as a 2-Movie Set. The two for one deal makes the buy affordable. The set is available on both Best Buy and Amazon's websites. (Notably the Amazon rating by a large sample of viewers gives the 2-Movie set a

    five star rating.)

Wouldn't mind collecting some cards for my nephew Kevin who had a motorcyclist pull in his lane of traffic two days ago (while riding his bike home). He's listed for me on eBay and helped me in the shop for a couple years. Now he is in the hospital with 7 broken vertebrae. His musical, numismatic, and normal life instantly changed. Please be careful riding and driving. image

Most people are paying too much attention to things inside their cars instead of whats outside them. I can't count how many times I see cars swerving daily only to pass them or them pass me and have their phone in their hands texting. My prayers go out to your Nephew!

I have a collection of Zeppelin-themed postcards, not the ones that flew on Zeppelins but postcards that depict pictures of Zeppelins. Most of them are German pre-WWI, when Zeps were about the awesomest thing in new technology. I also have some WWI cards depicting the German military bomber Zeps. These particular cards are quite rare, especially the photo postcards of intact Zeppelins. Zeppelin crash postcards by the British and French are far more common.

Old maps is my wife's thing, she loves them, but I'm the one more likely to spend money on genuine antique ones. She's content to print out reproductions.

I've also been known to dabble in illuminated manuscript pages, although my collection is small.

Step one: once in photo bucket click on the option that is titled "Direct" (You will see the word "copied" flash on)

Step two: Go to your reply post here and click on the little picture frame.

Step three: Click on the URL line that pops up and then hit Command and then letter "V" if you have a Mac or if a PC then hit Contrl and then the letter "V"

Repeat for each additional photo you want to include but make sure you leave an empty line between each before adding more

Cool stuff there BigAl! You have some interesting tastes.

I collect (or accumulate) guitars and memorabilia from my favorite University. I usually have a few classic Ford Mustangs but recently sold my last two ('65 fastback and '67 convertible) to fund my attempt at getting my private pilot license and plane. I never had time to drive the darn things anyway.

Yes they should be operational but I don't want to risk any damage

The Trike is probably the only totally original example that exists, made 1892-1898. It's missing its burner which would have been not much more than a round tin container that you filled with alcohol and lite which heated the water in the boiler and ran steam to the engine.

The fire wagon does have its burner which fits on a shelf from the rear under the boiler.

My wife is sick of my models and has been after me to get back to coins for several years.
